A New Law May Ban Drivers From Using Cell Phones

(AP) ANNAPOLIS, Md. A ban on using hand-held cell phones while driving in Maryland is in danger. State lawmakers have been looking at a possible ban for years, but they've never adopted one. Already cell phones are banned for underage drivers in Maryland and for all drivers in Washington D.C. and New Jersey. A bill requiring hands-free cell phone devices for drivers behind the wheel received an unfavorable committee report this week. The Senate is also looking at similar measures, but those have NOT come up for any votes.
